Street photography is an art photography style that candidly portrays everyday street life using captivating imagery. These images usually convey a strong, thought-provoking message that goes beyond the captured moment. Scenes in street photography are usually raw, unaltered, and the subjects typically don’t know that they’re being photographed.
The proliferation of smartphones and camera-enabled gizmos has led to an explosion of street photography, often fueled by visually rich social media platforms like Instagram. Some of the pioneers of street photography include Walker Evans and Paul Strand, whose depiction of the European immigrants still paints a vivid picture of 1920’s New York.
